On Tuesday, September 1, a Salisbury man was sent to hospital in critical condition following being hit by a car.
According to North Carolina Highway Patrol, Brian Isenhour was trying to cross the U.S 221 South, near Boxcar Grille at around 9.25pm when he was hit by a 2007 Toyota being driven by Anwer Gillani.
Isenhour had apparently argued with his girlfriend while driving down 1-40 towards Salisbury and insisted that she stop the car to let him out. He then began to walk down the 221, while his girlfriend remained on the I-40 and at some point he crossed the road into the path of Gillian’s oncoming vehicle. Unfortunately, as Gillani’s vehicle was travelling at 45 mph he did not have time to break and struck Isenhour causing him to land on the right shoulder of the roadway sustaining life threatening injuries.
Paramedics who attended the scene transferred Isenhour to Mission’s Trauma Center in Asheville.
Gillani was not charged in relation to the incident, nor did he suffer any injuries.
