On Thursday evening, July 23, five people were injured in a two vehicle crash in Davidson County.

According to authorities, the accident happened around 7 p.m. on U.S. Highway 64 East at Bowers Road.

Savannah Leeanne Bates, aged 19, was driving a 2001 Honda passenger vehicle with two passengers, one of whom was female and aged 19 and the other 20. Bates tried turning onto U.S. 64 from Bowers Road and did not yield to a 1993 Jaguar being driven by 67 year old James E. Hogan of Davidson County who was heading east on U.S. 64. The Jaguar, which was traveling at around 55 mph, hit the Honda.

Bates was taken to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center with life-threatening injuries and her passengers were also taken to hospital although their condition is unknown.

Hogan and his 61 year old passenger were also taken to hospital.
